2009 Cedar River Festival Plans Underway
June 15, 2009
CEDAR FALLS - The Cedar River Festival Group seeks avid outdoor enthusiasts on water and land alike to assist with the 2009 Cedar River Cleanup Saturday July 11. Volunteers can celebrate their hard work the following day at the Cedar River Festival, Sunday July 12 at Island Park.
The Cedar River Festival Group is a local organization working to improve the quality of the Cedar River. The mission of the Group is to educate, celebrate, and preserve the natural beauty of the Cedar River as a community resource.
Volunteers are needed to assist both on land and on the water. Canoes will be provided for water volunteers; however those owning a canoe or kayak are welcome to participate as well. The group also seeks volunteers to help clean up areas still affected by the 2008 floods. Those not wishing to participate on water may volunteer for the land cleanup and also meet at Island Park.

Sign-up online to participate at www.crfgroup.org.
Check-in will begin at Island Park at 8:00 a.m., safety meeting at 8:45 a.m., and at 9:00 a.m. transportation will be provided to the starting point for both land and water cleanup crews. All cleanup canoes are to be off the water at Island Park no later than 1:00 p.m. to ensure safety.
