DES MOINES --- Three Cedar Valley legislators, Reps. Deb Berry, Bob Kressig and Don Shoultz, were appointed to legislative interim committees that will meet this fall.
Berry will serve on the New Iowans Committee; Kressig will serve on the Motor Vehicle Fuel Committee; and Shoultz will serve on the Judicial District and Judicial Resources Study Committee.
They were appointed by House Minority Leader Pat Murphy.
"With gas approaching $3 a gallon this summer, I trust Rep. Kressig to do what is best for Iowa consumers," said Murphy. The committee is charged with investigating issues relating to the sale of motor vehicle fuel, including minimum markup, selling below cost and limiting quantities of gasoline.
Berry's committee will review the impact of the growing population of immigrants, migrant workers and refugees who are relocating to the state to live and work.
The Judicial District and Resources Committee, which was first commissioned two years ago, will continue to study allocating judicial resources more wisely to help make the system more efficient and avoid delays in justice.
