KRESSIG, GOVERNOR: LET’S WORK TOGETHER
Des Moines, Iowa – Governor Branstad gave his Condition of the State address at the State Capitol today and State Representative Bob Kressig of Cedar Falls said lawmakers are ready to work together to strengthen the middle class and re-vitalize rural Iowa.
“We’re pleased to hear the Governor is ready to work with us to move our state forward,” said Kressig. “I’m confident we can find common ground on the priorities we share like creating new partnerships with educators and the business community, keeping higher education affordable, and connecting more Iowans to high-speed internet.”
The Governor delivered the annual Condition of the State address to a special joint session of the Iowa Legislature this morning.
“One of the keys to a strong middle class is a solid education for every Iowa child and the Governor’s plan shortchanges our schools and children,” added Kressig. “We need to make sure every child has access to preschool and invest in our k-12 education system so our kids can compete with workers from around the globe. I’m also hopeful the Governor will work with us on other ideas to grow the middle class this year.”
