KRESSIG TO SEEK ANOTHER TERM IN THE IOWA HOUSE

State Representative Bob Kressig of Cedar Falls announced today that he will seek re-election in the Iowa House of Representatives in House District 59, which includes Cedar Falls in Black Hawk County. Representative Kressig is serving his seventh term in the Iowa House of Representatives.

“While serving as State representative, I have been listening to the people of Cedar Falls. One of the many concerns that I have heard is that our public schools have been underfunded.  I believe it’s time we make Iowa education a priority again by providing adequate funding for our k-12 schools, University of Northern Iowa and Hawkeye Community College,” said Kressig. “ I know there is more we can do to grow Iowa’s economy such as close Iowa’s skilled worker gap, invest in our public schools and make sure our students get a fair shot at an affordable higher education.”

Rep. Kressig serves on Public Safety, Commerce, Local Government, Environmental Protection, and Economic Development Appropriations Subcommittee. Bob also serves on the Criminal Justice Information System Advisory Committee and the Statewide Interoperable Communications System Board.

“It’s been a great honor serving the people of Cedar Falls in the House and I look forward to serving another term,” said Kressig. “While I’m proud of the progress we’ve made the last few years, there is more we must do to help working families and those in need, including expanding Iowa’s medicaid cannabidiol law to make the medicine more accessible.”

Kressig was born in Dubuque and grew up in Waterloo where his parents owned Verdies Cafe. He attended Hawkeye Tech, completing welding coursework, and then the University of Northern Iowa where he completed his Post Secondary Teaching license. He worked at John Deere for 31 years, and as a John Deere/UAW Joint Trainer for ten years before his retirement.

Bob’s wife Liz is an para-educator at Cedar Falls Community School District. They have two daughters and four grandchildren. In his spare time, Bob enjoys cycling and has ridden RAGBRAI several times.
